The world turns its back on Somalia THE escalating violence in Mogadishu, Somalia's ruined capital, continues unabated... The bodies of Ethiopian soldiers killed in gun battles with Islamist fighters were dragged through the streets by angry mobs....This week also saw the admission by the UN secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon, that there was no chance of a UN peacekeeping mission in Somalia...There is little chance now of the other AU troops promised by Burundi, Nigeria and others turning up.
